Nutrition Guide
Although nutrition was part of my Personal Training course, I never understood the full impact of what we consume has on us (on every level – mental, physical & emotional) until I did a 5 day detox at a health clinic. I had read much on detoxing but I decided to do it with an expert. This was a juice (2 per day) and a hot vegetable broth in the evening. The advice to have a colonic on day 2 or 3 is of paramount importance as you are consuming a lot of fibre and to put it bluntly, all the toxins need to be flushed out of you in good time. If they sit in your intestines for too long your body will reabsorb the toxins making you ill and making the entire detox a waste. I hesitated but by day 3 I could feel my temperature rising so had the procedure and that evening I noticed something incredible. Prone to depression, I quit literally felt that dark, fog lift completely, my mood lifted, I felt revitalised. I spoke to the Host about this and she recommended books, people to read and listen to. Biggest revelation for me was that your diet not only affects your physical health but your mental and emotional health. This has changed my relationship with food, we truly are what we consume.

Balanced Diet
According to the National Academy of Sciences, current recommendations for healthy adults suggest a diet with 10 to 35 percent of calories from protein, 20 to 35 percent from fat, and 45 to 65 percent from carbohydrates.
Take a second to imagine this distribution by visualizing a healthy plate. At least half of the plate should be made up of carbohydrates, with one quarter of the plate filled with lean protein and another quarter or less occupied by healthy fats.

What To Expect
I will provide information on benefits of nutrition, along with easy recipes that won’t take much time to prepare and how to batch cook & refrigerate or freeze so that you have meals at the ready. Having meals you can take with you to work ensures you are not having to grab something on the go (pre-prepared sandwiches and fast foods are chock full of ingredients we need to avoid. Aside from the hidden calories, they contain refined and processed foods which have no health benefits).
